Alden Richards

Alden Richards' lauded performance is just the first of multiple roles he'll perform on 'Magpakailanman' this month.

Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards is trending once more on Twitter are his most recent performance in GMA's drama anthology show, Magpakailanman.

Alden Richards portrayed marathon runner Jirome De Castro on yesterday's Magpakailanman episode. Jirome suffers from dystonia, a movement disorder that results in involuntary muscle movements in the afflicted person.

In the thousands of tweets with the #ALDENRichards hashtag as well as the #ALDENxAugMPK hashtag, fans and netizens showered Alden with praise for his portrayal of the inspiring athlete.

The role comes after Alden recently participated in his first fun run. Back in July, Alden posted multiple photos of him at a fun run organized by an online retailer, where he mentioned in the caption that this would be the first of many fun runs he would be attending in the future.

Alden's portrayal of Jirome is just the first one in a month-long series of performances from him on Magpakailanman.

His performance as Jirome will be followed by an episode titled "Epal Dreamboy: The Richard Licop Story”, where Alden will portray a social influencer bashed for being “epal” and “mayabang”. After that episode, Alden will then star in the episode “The Lost Boy,” an action-drama where Alden portrays the life of a young man pushed into a life of crime.

The final episode that Alden stars in addresses mental health awareness and is entitled “Sa Puso't-Isipan: The Cantillana Family Story". The episode centers around Andrew, who must juggle the roles of a loving son, a responsible brother, and a primary caregiver to his mentally-ill parents.
