Ben&Ben's Paolo Benjamin praises 'Maria Clara at Ibarra'

By Kristian Eric Javier

The newest fantasy-portal series Maria Clara at Ibarra has shown a strong first week as netizens and fans show support and gave praise alike. One of the most recent one who gave praises to the show is Ben&Ben's Paolo Benjamin.

In a Twitter post, the other half of the folk-pop/pop-rock band frontman praised the show and everyone involved in making the series.

“#MariaClaraAtIbarra is such a groundbreaking show. Kudos to everyone involved,” he posted with a prayer emoji.

Fans have also praised the show for its unique take on a historical type of story, as well as the acting of the leads Barbie Forteza as Klay, Julie Ann San Jose as Maria Clara, and Dennis Trillo as Crisostomo Ibarra. Some fans also expressed amazement and enjoyment of the other casts and characters.

Even Kapuso actress Carla Abellana praised the acting of her former co-star Dennis, saying that there's no other actor who can play the role but him.

Fans of both the series and the band got excited with replies filled with hopes and requests asking Ben&Ben if they could create a song for the series as part of their OST or original soundtrack, or at least a song inspired by the story.

Not only that, but some fans are also requesting a Ben&Ben MCI collaboration between the band, Julie Ann, and Dennis as the former is best known for her singing achievements, while the latter is known for his singing and drum skills.

Some fans meanwhile, also expressed the same sentiments as Paolo, saying how the series “raised the bar” for other TV series to reach.

Maria Clara at Ibarra tells the story of Klay, a working, nursing student trying to graduate and make ends meet when she was transported into the novel Noli Me Tangere, written by Jose Rizal. There, she meets Maria Clara and Crisostomo as she tries to get back into her own time.
