'Pamaypay' scene of FiLay love team delivers kilig vibes; netizens clamor for Fidel and Klay's happy ending

By Kristian Eric Javier

Netizens could not help but get excited and feel kilig when they saw the chemistry between Fidel and Klay, dubbed by netizens as the FiLay loveteam, during the “pamaypay” scene in Maria Clara at Ibarra.

In last night's episode, Klay, played by Barbie Forteza, followed Crisostomo Ibarra (Dennis Trillo) to the church, but stayed outside and tried to cool herself off with her fan. Along came Fidel, played by David Licauco, who tried talking to Klay, who was fanning herself too fast while glancing at Fidel.

The whole scene wouldn't have been memorable if the prior scene between Maria Clara (Julie Anne San Jose) and her friend Victoria (Karenina Haniel) did not explain what the gesture of fanning oneself while looking at a man means.

The scene might seem simple and not so relevant, however, fans did not fail to notice the deeper meaning behind the separate scenes of Maria Clara and FiLay as comments from fans exploded on social media, expressing their kilig between the interaction of the two characters.

One netizen expressed how they could not help but laugh at the sour look on Klay's face while Fidel assumes that she likes him.

Other netizens also commented how cute the two were, and how they wanted Klay and Fidel to end up together.

“Nabubuhay lang siguro talaga ako para sa happy ending ni Klay at Fidel,” one user said.

“Fidel and Klay endgame please,” another one said.

Another user also mentioned how FiLay not only tackles social issues and problems but also shows the audience forgotten Filipino traditions.
