Kapuso actor David Licauco promised fans of the hit fantasy-portal series Maria Clara at Ibarra that there will be more to see of his character, Fidel, and Klay in the upcoming transition happening on the series.
“Marami pa kayong makikita sa aming dalawa ni Barbie,” the actor said in an interview with Nelson Canlas on 'Chika Minute.'
The series, based on the novel "Noli Me Tangere" written by Jose Rizal is slowly transitioning into the second book, "El Filibusterismo." However, fans are worried that since the first book is ending, Fidel and Klay will be separated as she will have to return to her own time.
David, meanwhile, assured fans of 'FiLay' love team to see more of them in the upcoming second book.
“Dun din sa FiLay, may 'El Fili[busterismo]' pa. Hindi siya (Fidel) mawawala,” he added.
David also expressed his thanks for the recognition he received from netizens for his acting in the January 16 episode of the series.
“Salamat na nabigyan n'yo ng pansin ang aking paghihirap, ang aking sipag, at mga pinaghirapan namin sa the past seven months? Six months of shooting,” he said.
He added that now that they're on break, he is missing the cast and the team behind the series and expressed how sad he feels knowing that the series is coming to an end.
“Sobrang nami-miss ko talaga 'yung Maria Clara at Ibarra. Imagine mo, the past six months sila 'yung nakakasama ko. Ngayon pa nga lang na parang patapos na kami, nalulungkot na 'ko e,” he said.
In a post on Instagram, David admitted that playing the role of Fidel is the biggest blessing he received in 2022.
In a past interview, David admitted his surprise at the sudden popularity of his character in the series. While he is grateful for the attention he received, he revealed that he still felt overwhelmed.
“First time ko s'yang ma-experience so medyo nakakagulat, nakaka-overwhelm. Grateful pa rin kasi again hindi naman lahat ng tao nabibigyan ng opportunity na maging artista, what more na maging parte ng isang teleserye na tumatak sa buong Pilipinas,” he said.
