This Christmas attraction in Tochigi, Japan is truly IG-worthy

By Racquel Quieta

The Omicron COVID-19 variant may have stalled most of our travel and holiday plans, but it won't keep us from praying for better days and planning our first post-pandemic trip.

And if you're dreaming of having a white Christmas in Japan next year, you should definitely include the Instagrammable tourist attraction in Tochigi called the Ashikaga Flower Park Illumination.

In a recent episode of Mars Pa More, an overseas Filipino worker named Ericka Sabolboara gave a virtual tour of the IG-worthy Christmas attraction.

According to Ericka, there's an annual illumination contest in Japan every winter, and the illumination at the Ashikaga Flower Park is hailed as one of the top three in their country.

The whole flower park is decked out with hundreds of thousands of LED lights, including ones that are flower-shaped and installed on its sprawling lawn.

There's also a huge white castle that people can snap selfies with, with virtual fireworks flashing in the massive screens surrounding it.

Aside from the enchanting lights, there's also a night market in the park where people can sample local delicacies such as the tanghulu, which is originally from China, and the strawberry candies.
