By Racquel Quieta

Magkaagaw star Sheryl Cruz is the ultimate Hula Hoop Diva.

Many have been impressed at how good she is with hula hooping and how she maintained her sexy figure.

So, in her recent guest apperance on Mars Pa More, she shared how she got into hula hoop dancing and what its health benefits are.

According to the Kapuso actress, she started hula hooping four years ago after her trip to Guimaras with her 'Triplet' friends Manilyn Reynes and Tina Paner.

Sheryl narrated that during that trip they did a hula hoop challenge where she didn't do so well.

“Akala ko rin it was easy at first kasi nga, 'di ba, it's just a rowing back and forth motion, pero challenging pala siya.

“Ang akala ko because you know how to dance, madali para sa'yo i-manipulate yung hoop.

"Pero hindi, ako yung laging bumabagsak yung hoop.”

From then on Sheryl went on a 'challenge accepted' mode and the rest they say is history.

But aside from being a new hobby or skill unlocked, hula hooping also turned into a beneficial workout for Sheryl as she later on discovered that it can actually help with her acoliosis.

“Kasi when you walk 'di ba you tend to slouch most of the time, lalo na if you're heavy.

"It helped me straighten my back. Yung posture ko, mas maayos siya.”

She then shared the two health benefits of hula hoop dancing.

First is that it helps with weight loss and second is that it doubles as a full body workout since your whole body moves when you do it.

Moreover, Sheryl revealed that hula hooping may not be that popular in the Philippines, but in Europe and in the U.S., many people are into it including Beyonce and former U.S. first lady Michelle Obama.

Actually, even guys are into it, according to Sheryl.

So, if you want to get into hula hooping this quarantine period, Sheryl advises that you begin with a bigger or heavier hoop because it requires slower rotation, as opposed to smaller hoops, which will compel you to move faster and make your exercise sweatier.
