Lauren Young, excited to play her first kontrabida role in Mundo Mo'y Akin

New Kapuso actress Lauren Young was all smiles when she faced the members of the media during the press conference of the upcoming GMA Telebabad drama, Mundo Mo'y Akin last March 12. Lauren will play Darlene, ang kababata ni Marilyn, played by Louise delos Reyes, na magkakagusto kay Jerome, na gagampanan naman ni Alden Richards.
"It's my first kontrabida role, and ang maganda sa kanya [ay] hindi siya ordinary na knotrabida na nagba-brat lang siya, gagawa lang siya ng masama because she can. Lahat ng mga ginagawa niya, she does it because she has reasons. She acts the way she acts kasi nasasaktan siya," paglalarawan ni Lauren sa kanyang character.
She adds, "Since it's my first time to be a kontrabida, I'm very excited to show people na hindi lang puro pagpapaawa 'yung kaya kong gawin. It's another side of me. At the same time, kung ma-label lang ako as a bida or a kontrabida, I want people to appreciate my acting skills, and dito tingnan natin kung kaya ko."
She was the lead protagonist in her last project with her former network. Is she affected by what people are saying to the switch to a kontrabida role? "People think kasi if you become bida, kapag nag-kontrabida ka it's parang a demotion, a downgrade. I'm not just saying this dahil nangyayari sa akin, but that's not the case naman talaga. If you think about it, wala kang kontrabida kung walang bida. Wala kang bida kung walang kontrabida. It makes the story whole, and it's not about kung gaano kadami ang exposure na mayroon ka as a character, it's how you tell your story and the way you tell it."
Lauren also does not deny the fact that she feels pressured on being the third member of the love triangle with Alden and Louise. "Siyempre, meron po[ng pressure]. But siguro if I do my job tapos maraming magagalit sa akin, then I did my job right. I'm here to work, and I don't want to break anything that they have."
She is good friends with Alden before she transferred to GMA, so she is ready to be linked to the Prince of Drama once their scenes air on TV. "It's part of the job, but everyone knows na lahat kami, we're here to work," she explains.
