Bettina Carlos on her character in 'My Husband's Lover': 'Coming from Tiya Madel, malaking pagkakaiba siya'

Last seen as Tiya Madel in the hit primetime drama Temptation of Wife, Kapuso actress Bettina Carlos once again plays an offbeat role in My Husband's Lover. In an interview with GMANetwork.com during the series' press conference, Bettina talked about her new acting challenge and the experience of working with Carla Abellana for the first time.

"I play the role of Vicky Araneta. She is a 30-year old young cougar who has a child but is jaded in love so ayaw na niya ng commitment, puro fling na lang siya sa mga mas batang lalake," says Bettina.

She adds, "I play the best friend of Lally, who happens to be her sounding board. Ako 'yung makikinig sa kanyang mga hinaing sa asawa niya and magpapa-realize sa kanya na 'Alam mo ang bading ngayon, mas pamin, mas may value na. Hindi na sila 'yung katulad ng dati na lalamya-lamya. Marami ng bading ngayon na hindi mo iisipin na bading pala."

The young mom also compared Vicky to her previous roles. "Physically, coming from Tiya Madel, malaking pagkakaiba siya. One, wala na akong headband. Two, hindi na ako naka-rubber shoes, hindi na ako naka-doll shoes. Siguro role-wise, iba siya kasi coming from the context of the story. 'Yun 'yung isa sa mga magaganda dahil although it's a love story, it's a fresh angle. It's a different kind of love story, na ang kaagaw mo ay kauri ng asawa mo, hindi katulad mo. It's a bit of a challenge on how to make the cougar come out kasi it looks simple, puwede ka namang kunwari lang may bagets na jowa pero siyempre the simplicity of it, doon ka nacha-challenge, kung paano mo ipo-portray 'yung character na 'yan."

Bettina is also delighted to be working with actors who she has previously worked with, as well as those she will be sharing the screen with for the first time, including the show's female lead star Carla Abellana. "[It's the] first time I met her and first time I'm working with her. She's really quiet but when it's time to deliver, she does deliver it. Si Dennis kasi, I've worked with him na in Temptation. Si Tom, I've worked with him before so I kind of know a bit about him already. It's nice to be working with the same production as Temptation of Wife, but with a different cast."
