One More Try: My Husband's Lover The Concert spins up a storm

Araneta Coliseum rained with talent, love, support and men last October 12 as the cast of GMA’s most daring and phenomenal series gave their all in One More Try: My Husband’s Lover The Concert.

Flanked by the likes of Mike Enriquez, German Moreno, MTRCB Chaiman Atty. Toto Villareal, Dr. Vicky Belo, Geoff Eigemann, Barbie Forteza, Aiza Seguerra, and Janice de Belen, the concert was a definite must-watch.

Spinning up a storm of excitement for the audience, the much-anticipated concert kicked off with a superb performance of One More Try by Pop Diva, Kuh Ledesma.

After flashing the love story of Vincent and Eric and Vincent and Lally on the monitor, cheers filled the venue. Primetime television’s most controversial love triangle took center stage. Carla Abellana, Tom Rodriguez and Dennis Trillo performed a medley of songs, including Daylight by Maroon 5.

Eric left the stage to give Vincent and Lally some space. Vincent serenaded Lally with the song, Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars. He went on to perform The Script’s Break Even as Lally left the stage.

The most pivotal scene on My Husband’s Lover was then flashed onscreen. Who could forget how Lally found out who “Beh” was? Lally’s “1720” experience was relived, and she went out of the set’s own 1720 door. She very aptly performed the song, Kung Alam Ko Lang.

TomDen then performed a duet of I Just Need You Now by Lady Antebellum. This was followed by a showdown of vocal prowess by Jonalyn Viray, Mariciris Garcia, Aicelle Santos and Kyla as they performed a medley of Barbra Streisand songs.

Perhaps one of the most romantic performances of the night was the duet between Kuh Ledesma and Roi Vinzon. After their performance, Kuh Ledesma sang her rendition of Huwag Kang Mangako, the OST of GMA Telebabad series, Akin Pa Rin Ang Bukas.

After several more production numbers from Tom, Dennis and Carla, TV host and comedian Joey de Leon was featured on the VTR as he talked about how My Husband’s Lover made an impact on Philippine pop culture and how it has forever changed Primetime television.

This was followed by a special performance by Bettina Carlos, Karel Marquez, Glydel Mercado and Chanda Romero. Each had a short, witty monologue in character before performing a dance number, while Tom and Dennis sang in the background.

Jonalyn Viray’s performance of the hit song, Help Me Get Over was beyond excellent. This was followed by the biggest surprise of the night- a military themed production number. The sizzling hot hunks of My Husband’s Lover, namely Rodjun Cruz, Pancho Magno and Victor Basa went shirtless. They were joined by equally hot men in uniform, who stripped down for the audience. A giddy Kevin Santos, in character as Danny, joined in the fun.

Keempee de Leon, in character as Zandro a.k.a. Zsa Zsa belted out a spectacular performance of Sirena with Gloc 9. They were re-joined by Rodjun, Pancho, Victor and Kevin, and each of the cast members of My Husband’s Lover were introduced and invited to the stage.

Carla Abellana got teary-eyed as she thanked her co-actors, directors, writers and the entire team behind My Husband’s Lover. She also thanked the fans for their endless support. The concert wrapped up with an endearing and heart-fluttering performance of One More Try by TomDen.

It was definitely an epic concert, made even special by the participation of the UP Concert Chorus, Musical Director Mon Faustino, Choreographer, Paul Morales and Director Louie Ignacio.
