Last March, the cast of Pepito Manaloto went school hopping for an episode that is the first of its kind.

The team, led by cast member, creative director and writer Michael V. a.k.a. Bitoy, went out of the Manaloto mansion and headed to three colleges and universities in the Philippines for the Pepito Manalotour, a school tour designed to entertain, inspire, and educate.

Students from the University of Santo Tomas (UST), University of the Philippines-Diliman (UPD) and Miriam College (MC) got to meet Director Bert de Leon and the full cast.

“Yung ibang (nag-aaral ng) Mass Communications or Communication Arts, I’m pretty sure na curious kayo kung paano namin ginagawa ‘tong show, or any production for that matter. This is one way of showing you,” Michael V said to the crowd at UST.

Looking back at his student years, he recalls continuously looking for ways to learn about the industry he’s certain he wants to be a part of.

“I spent my time reading books, watching TV shows and movies… na may kinalaman sa movies and television, kasi 'yun talaga gusto ko when I was a kid,” he shared. “Lahat naman yata ng bata pinangarap maging artista, gusto sumikat, gusto makilala.”

His drive allowed him to never get rid of the dream and inspire him to work harder at improving his craft.

“Hindi 'nawala sa mind ko [at] sa puso ko and nag-pursue lang talaga ‘ko dun sa dream na ‘to. Sabi ko at one point in my life, gusto ko ma-i-share sa maraming audience 'yung talent na kung sakali ibibigay at ibinigay sa ‘kin ng Diyos,” he added.

Now that he is one of the most respected names in Philippine comedy and show business, he made sure to keep his promise to himself.

“Now, we’re here together. [The cast and I] are standing in front of different classes, different students, different sections… Nagkasama-sama tayo lahat dito because of that dream,” he said.

He emphasized to the students of UST how powerful dreams could be. “That’s just one dream. That’s just my dream. What if i-combine natin lahat ng dreams natin? Ano kaya ang mangyayari in the future? That’s what I’m excited for,” he disclosed.

Watch out for the airing of the Pepito Manalotour episode this Sunday, after Picture! Picture!
