EXCLUSIVE: Manilyn Reynes speaks up on the programs pitted against 'Pepito Manaloto'

Kapuso comedienne and veteran singer Manilyn Reynes shares her thoughts in her exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com on the secret of multi-awarded Pepito Manaloto's success.

Manilyn who plays Elsa, the wife of Pepito Manaloto (Michael V), revealed that aside from the incredible work of the creative team of the show, the stars of the sitcom are all pivotal in creating interesting stories which viewers can relate to.

She explained, “Siguro bukod siyempre sa creative people ano na talagang ang meeting naman ay abot-abot kung hanggang saan puwede, sige stretch natin ito. Gandahan natin, damihan pa natin ‘yung ideas ganiyan.”

“Kami mismo kapag nagkukuwentuhan kaming cast, 'pag nagkukuwentuhan kami bawat kuwentong personal naikukuwento namin, nagagawan ng episode. That’s why people can relate, kasi 'Hala nangyari sa akin 'yan,' ‘yung ganiyan. Somewhere and sometime in your life dumaan ka roon, pinagdaanan mo ‘yun, na-experience mo ‘yun. Kasi para ang tao maka-relate sa iyo gawin mo ‘yung totoo, ano ba ang totoong nangyayari ganito eh,” Manilyn added.

It is amazing to note that for eight years, Pepito Manaloto has retained a huge following and remains to be a rating juggernaut every Saturday night for the Kapuso channel.

When asked if Manilyn still get affected with the many shows that the other network puts up against their sitcom, the humble but talented actress had a simple answer.  

“Alam mo honestly, hindi. Because ang sa amin kasi, iisa ang layunin namin. Makapagbigay tayo ng entertainment, katatawanan at aral sa tao ‘yun lang.”

“Huwag na natin isipin hindi ba ganiyan, ang importante mahal tayo ng tao, mahal natin sila, that’s why tayo sinisikap na maganda ‘yung pinapalabas natin.”
