This buffet restaurant is every seafood lover's dream

Back in the 1980s, a restaurant called Isla Sugbu Seafood City opened in Cebu City.

Then in 2019, the restaurant opened its first branch in Luzon at the Venice Grand Piazza, McKinley Hill in Taguig City. At PhP 1,300 per head, customers are treated to the nines with their unlimited array of seafood and meat choices.

If you're thinking, what makes Isla Sugbu Seafood City different from the other buffet restaurants in the city, well, it operates like a "dampa." Pick your seafood at the fresh seafood section---set up like a wet market---and choose how you like them prepared.

“It's a very, very low-priced dish but very, very high in value and very sought after,” tells Winglip Chang, the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Kuya J Group to Pop Talk.

The restaurant is under the Kuya J Group, the company behind Kuya J and other Cebu-based restaurants including the Tsay Cheng Chinese Cuisine, Majestic Restaurant, and Grand Convention Center of Cebu.

It is also the company that brought back US fast-food chain Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen to the Philippines.

Isla Sugbu Seafood City can seat more than 200 customers and is sectioned into three spaces: an area where customers can pick the fresh seafood, the dining area, and a kitchen that can accommodate the orders.

Pop Talk recommends taking a dive in their Tanigue, Lapu-Lapu in Tausi and Soy Sauce, Adobong Pusit, Grilled Liempo, Salted Egg Shrimp, Lobster Thermidor, Sea Mantin in Lemon Butter Sauce, and the Ultimate Halo-halo.

During this time of the pandemic, the Isla Sugbu Seafood City remains open for customers for dine-in on Wednesdays and Fridays only.
