By Aedrianne Acar

Weekend primetime just got a whole lot better and more exciting with the addition of Running Man Philippines in the GMA-7 weekend line-up.

Kapuso viewers and Pinoy Runners can now watch the biggest reality show on TV every Saturday and Sunday starting September 3.

But before the world premiere of Running Man Philippines, we listed down some of the reasons why this show is a must-watch program for you, your family, and friends every weekend.

Meticulous preparation

The country's biggest network GMA-7 and SBS Korea have joined forces to give the Filipino audience top-notch entertainment via Running Man Philippines.

And despite the challenges and risks brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the two networks made sure that the preparation for this reality show will be meticulously done.

GMA Network Senior Vice President for Entertainment Lilybeth Gomez-Rasonable shared details of what they had to go through in mounting this big project during the show's media conference.

“It was supposed to happen first here in the Philippines and then maybe a few scenes in Korea, kaya nga lang urong siya ng urong, dahil sa dami ng lockdown.”

Rasonable added, “So nung nagbukas ang Korea, naisip na doon na lahat gawin. Kaya medyo sa tagal ng paghihintay, maganda, napakapaghanda naman ng maigi para mai-stage 'yung Running Man ng the best way possible and the safest way possible.”

Working with the best team in Korea

The seven multi-talented cast members and the production staff of the show said that co-producing this reality show with SBS Korea was a great learning experience for all of them.

Kapuso host Mikael Daez, a.k.a The Captain shared his observations on the Korean staff of Running Man.

He recalled, “Maybe narinig n'yo na we had maybe around 25 to 30 cameras, pero maliban pa doon, they had 10 to 20 Go Pros and lahat 'yun nagro-roll, continuously."

Mikael continued, “'Yung Go Pro para hindi mamatay, may naka-duct tape na powerbank, hindi talaga nila hahayaan na mamatay.”

“I think those small details na, 'okay, parang ang galing nun', these are small bits of info and techniques na baka puwede natin magamit 'di ba kasi, we compare and contrast to our own ways. Kasi, 'yung hope natin, not just to create Running Man but also to learn new techniques that we can possibly use here para ma-upgrade at ma-differentiate rin 'yung content na ginagawa natin.”

Shot entirely in South Korea

Looking to ignite your wanderlust?

Then look no further because Running Man Philippines will take you around the beautiful and exciting sights in the “Land of the Morning Calm” because the show's first season was shot entirely in South Korea.

Comedian-vlogger Buboy Villar remembered that they even visited the shooting location of GMA Heart of Asia's K-drama series Jumong.

He said, “Natuwa ko nung nakita ko 'yung pinagtapingan ng Jumong, so hindi ako makapaniwala. Akala ko jino-joke nila ako, kasi paborito ko 'yung Jumong.”

Amazing chemistry of the celebrity Runners

And of course, you have to see the chemistry and teamwork of our celebrity runners - Mikael Daez, Glaiza De Castro, Ruru Madrid, Buboy Villar, Lexi Gonzales, Kokoy de Santos, and Angel Guardian.

Each episode of Running Man Philippines is guaranteed to be highly entertaining since you will be seeing the Runners go all-out in their missions
