Although Avery Paraiso has been doing commercials for seven years, he admitted that he didn’t really feel like a celebrity up until he became one of the contestants of StarStruck.
“I didn’t gain a following through doing commercials… I wasn’t known beforehand and by joining this competition, [people started really knowing who I am]… People would just know me [saying] ‘ikaw yung kulot sa [ganitong commercial]. Pero dito sa competition na ‘to, ‘ay, ikaw si Avery Paraiso [from StarStruck],’” he shared.
Although the half-Filipino, half-Irish artista hopeful is still uncomfortable about claiming he has fans, he recognizes the participation of supporters in bringing him to the Ultimate Final 14.
“[Some people] call themselves fans but I don’t think I’m famous… [but I’m very thankful for all the support I’ve been getting… I’m just proud to say that people are actually following me [online]… People actually follow me because of the show. It’s really humbling,” he added.
For him, being part of the reality-based artista search has always been a dream and he’s striving to make the most of the opportunity.
“Gusto ko mag-audition before kaso lang [I was] too young. I was 14 [during the previous season] so I [couldn’t audition]… Nung nakita ko [that there will be a new season, I knew that] this is my chance,” he declared.
