Elyson de Dios on joining 'StarStruck': 'Napilitan lang po ako dahil sa nanay ko'

Unlike most of his fellow contestants who have always wanted to make it into show business, Elyson de Dios joined StarStruck as a favor to his mom.
“Napilitan lang po ako [dahil] sa nanay ko. [Sabi niya] ‘Sali ka na, sayang ['yung] opportunity. So I [took] the opportunity po and [I’m glad na] nandito na ko [sa Final 14],” he said.
Although it wasn’t his idea to join, the Cebuano admitted that he’s starting to fall in love with what he’s doing.
“I’m so blessed [to make it this far kaya] parang nadadagdagan na [ang kagustuhan ko] maging artista,” he added.
According to Elyson , he doesn’t have detailed battle plans or crazy ideas so he could win. He’ll take it a challenge and a day at a time and make sure that he doesn’t waste the opportunity given to him.
“Discipline lang po, hard work, prayers and galingan sa lahat ng challenge… [Saka importante] 'yung determination ko po… [Simple lang po gusto kong iwanan na impression]… mabait [at] God-fearing,” he shared.
At sixteen, he tries to take things lightly and makes an effort not to be too hard on himself. One of the ways he’s doing this is by drawing inspiration from his crush and fellow contestant Ayra Mariano.
“Sobrang cute niya.… [Naging] crush ko [siya dahil] sa attitude niya. Sobrang bait niya po. I’m blessed na na-meet ko siya,” he shyly gushed.
