Elyson de Dios admires Alden Richards' drive even after 'StarStruck' rejection

By MARY LOUISE LIGUNAS

Cebuano StarStruck contestant Elyson de Dios has high respect for Alden Richards, not only for his skill but also for his determination.

In 2006, the Kapuso actor tried his luck in the reality-based artista search. He failed, however, to make it past the batch’s top 60.

Even so, Alden continued looking for ways to make it to the industry. For Elyson, staying afloat in a competition is challenging enough, so dodging the pain of rejection is twice as hard.

“Idol ko po si Alden Richards. Hindi siya nakapasok sa [top 60 ng] StarStruck [but] he never gave up on his dream to become a star. Gusto niya talaga maging artista [so he worked for it]. Tapos look at him now. Sikat na talaga siya,” the sixteen year old said.

Alden being goal-oriented inspires Elyson to remain faithful to his own dream. Now, more than ever, he’s motivated to make himself better in every way possible.

“Mas confident na ako ngayon, kasi dati, mahiyain po talaga ako. Hindi ako nakikipag-usap sa kanila… [At] nag-improve ako sa sayaw ko… tapos 'yung pag-ta-Tagalog ko, nag-improve na [rin daw po],” he concluded.
