Alden Richards admits he was challenged in a scene for 'Start-Up PH'

Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards admits that he was challenged by a scene he had to do for his series 'Start-Up PH.' He even considers it one of the hardest scenes he had to do for the show.

Alden plays Tristan “Good Boy” Hernandez in the Philippine adaptation of the hit Korean series 'Start-Up.' In the upcoming episode, he and Danica “Dani” Sison (Bea Alonzo) will be trapped in an elevator. As Tristan suffers from claustrophobia, he could not take being stuck in a small space.

In an interview with Nelson Canlas on Chika Minute, Alden admitted that the elevator scene where he had to act like he has claustrophobia, or the fear of enclosed spaces, was challenging for him.

“Isa yan sa mga pinakamahirap na scenes na nagawa ko for Start-Up kasi sa original Start-Up, wala naman talaga siya e. Walang ganoong anggulo si Good Boy na meron siyang claustrophobia,” he said.

He added that the acting demanded by the script needed to be “seizure-like” to show his character's fear.

What challenged him though, as the actor revealed, was that he had to act afraid while not getting the feeling of fear.

“Ako, wala naman kasi talaga akong phobia sa totoong buhay so medyo na-challenge lang ako with that aspect,” he said.

Despite their differences, Alden has previously stated that there are a few things that he and his character have in common, and one of them is wanting to help other people.

Alden recently launched the Myriad Esports Cup, a competition open to amateur league teams playing the hit online game Mobile Legends, with a Php250,000 total prize pool for the winner.

In the interview, Alden clarified that while the competition may not be for professionals, it is for players who can become one.

“This is an opportunity also to showcase, not professionals, players who have what it takes to be part of the pro scene,” the actor said.
