Tweet Gang wins SAS all-out merge

Tweet Gang, the joint forces of Tweet Hearts headed by Rochelle Pangilinan and Insta Gang led by Mark Bautista, won the neck and neck battle in the recently concluded Sunday All Stars all-out merge.

Only .16 points behind was Tropang iLike, the combined Tropang Trending and Ligang iLike, headed by Yassi Pressman and Sef Cadayona. The week’s theme was ‘Versus’, denoting both the intense competition between the combined groups and the teams’ contrast of choice.

The winning team chose old versus new, showcasing both a contrast and comparison between generations. Tweet Gang presented cabaret-themed numbers, classical and modern rendition of new hits, and flaunted different fashions varying from colorful retro, elegant tux, glittered dresses and pearls, as well as the dynamic trends of today.

Resident judges Jaya and Janno lauded the team for their performance. Judge Jaya said that she was entertained and described the presentation as “bonggang-bongga.” She also described Tweet Gang as “the team to beat.”

“Maganda… Very effective yung black and white tapos tumatawid kayo from old and new. Very nice. Nakita naming lahat yung hirap niyo sa rehearsals,” Judge Janno seconded.

The response from guest judge Ms. Jaclyn Jose, however, expressed otherwise. She said that she just watched the Jazz Age-set movie Gatsby and expected more from the team’s presentation. “Hindi ako masyadong masaya pero merong mga numbers naman na nakakatuwa. Medyo nalito lang ako sa past and present,” she said.

She expressed the contrary for the opposing Tropang iLike whose take on ‘Versus’ was a battle of two thrones. The team demonstrated the rivalry between two kingdoms and scenarios of forbidden love.

Judge Jaclyn described this as “malinis, maganda, mas klaro.” When asked by Judge Janno if she liked this more than the previous production, she added, “Pareho ko naman nagustuhan pero mas gusto ko ‘to.”

Judge Jaya agreed by saying. “Nawindang ako kanina (sa Tweet Gang) pero ito mas nawindang ako. Mas magaling ito.”

Despite the lopsided comments, the judges’ scores from the two Sundays combined with the viewers’ text votes declared Tweet Gang as the all-out merge winner.

Its co-leader Rochelle Pangilinan said, “Wild mga reaction namin pagtapos i-announce (yung results). Ninerbyos kami… Masaya, ‘di (namin) ine-expect.”

The teams will go back to their former groupings, so four presentations are to be expected next week. Stay tuned for what the four teams have in store at Sunday All Stars, every Sunday at noon.
