Being sporty can bring a lot of benefits to people. It can provide you a healthy lifestyle and a great physique just like our favorite athletes. Also, it can pay for your tuition in college, says basketball player Andre Paras.

It was just this year when The Half Sisters star Andre Paras decided to transfer to San Beda College. After a year of studying in UP and playing as a rookie for the UP Fighting Maroons, he opted not be called an Iskolar ng Bayan anymore for the following reasons.

First, Andre said he will not be able to balance his studies and career at the same time if he stays in UP because of his hectic work schedule in his first teleserye, The Half Sisters. Although it was his dream to study in UP, he doesn’t want to have a bad reputation in the university.

“I was not so ready yet. I didn't want to fail kaagad. Sayang naman 'yung opportunity. So I wanna be ready muna,” explained Andre.

When asked on how he will balance his studies and showbiz career, Andre said San Beda College offered him a class schedule which will not conflict with his showbiz engagements. He shared, “My schedule will be twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday. For the show naman, it’s MWF. So super sakto. In other words, my week is full.”

Another reason why Andre transferred to San Beda was to shift from film to a business management course. “For me it's academics. I want to learn business also. And I wanted to take up Film for Master's Degree na lang. I realized that I can take a film course when I graduate,” said Andre.

Why business management? “I'm taking up a business course so in the future, I'll know how to make film, a business. Para hindi lang puro movies or lights and everything. I want to know how to sell the film,” Andre quipped.

He added, “I also want to be a businessman so I'll know how to handle money. Because you know, everything revolves around money.”

According to Andre, he’s also planning to play basketball in San Beda College. He said it will be a great help to his family financially. “I have plans. I'll play for the team if it is possible. I have to be a scholar so I would not need my parents to pay for my tuition,” stated Andre.
