Renowned star-maker Johnny Manahan, popularly known as Mr. M is back in the director's chair as he joins one of GMA's biggest offerings this year, The Voice Generations.

The Voice Generations is the newest spin-off of The Voice, the world's biggest singing competition established by ITV Studios. This new franchise made its debut in Australia and is now in the Philippines, thanks to GMA Network.

Three years after the pandemic surge, Mr. M returns to share his expertise once again in directing a TV show.

In an interview with GMANetwork.com, Mr. M shared his excitement for The Voice Generations and revealed the reasons why he agreed to be the director of the show right after it was offered to him.

“I hadn't been doing anything like this for three years. It was an opportunity to do a big show again and I grabbed it, grabbed it right away,” he shared.

"Number one, gusto ko, number two, nakakahiya naman kung sinabi kong, 'Ayaw ko,'" he said with a smile.

Mr. M also shared that he is glad to be reunited with the people he worked with in the past and to have made new friends in GMA with this project.

“Nakakatuwa naman na nakatrabaho ko ulit 'yung ibang mga nakasama ko and made new friends here at GMA,” he claimed.

When asked how he plans to give this world's singing competition a Filipino twist, he answered, "What makes it Pinoy will be the contestants. How this novel twist to the show will unfold…let's see. Let's see what will happen."

GMA Network has already announced the host and the four coaches of the said singing competition.

The Voice Generations will be hosted by Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes, while the four award-winning Filipino music artists who will be seated as the coaches are international singer, dancer, and host Billy Crawford; multi-awarded and best-selling recording artist Julie Anne San Jose; lead singer and choreographer of the world's well-loved P-pop boy group SB19's Stell; and Filipino rockstar and lead singer of Parokya Ni Edgar Chito Miranda.
