Alden Richards, Jasmine Curtis-Smith explain why their team-up has on-screen chemistry

By Aaron Brennt Eusebio

Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards and Kapuso actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith's on-screen chemistry is undeniable.

When asked about the warm reception on their on-screen team-up, Alden explained that it has something to do with the public.

"Siguro lately nag-e-evolve ang audience, e, that's what I can see," Alden shared with GMANetwork.com at the media conference of their newest show, The World Between Us.

"And slowly nabe-break na 'yung stigma na you don't really have to be romantically together off-cam to be effective as actors.

"I guess, Jas and I, conscious effort namin as actors to make it seem na to be our characters, and [for] our characters to be in love with each other."

Because of the evolution, Alden thinks that the public appreciates the story and the characters more than the actors portraying them.

Alden added, "This is a good team-up, at least parang nakikita na natin ngayon 'yung evolution na 'yung audience must be in love with the story, not the actors off-cam.

"That's the thing about Jas, I'm very comfortable with her, I've done quite a few projects with her already, and this is a dream come true for me."

Before The World Between Us, Alden and Jasmine had already worked together in the 2016 movie 'Imagine You and Me,' and 'I Can See You: Love on the Balcony.'

"After being with her sa 'Imagine You and Me,' parang sabi ko ang sarap naman makasama nito sa isang project as a partner," Alden added.

"So I guess this is the time for it, this is the perfect time. I mean, so far, so good, we're on the right track and we're being able to deliver our characters in this story that we're very much in love with."

Jasmine revealed that the secret of their on-screen chemistry is that both she and Alden love the characters that they are portraying.

Alden portrays Louie Asuncion, a technology geek who will fall in love with Lia, Jasmine's character.

"Agree naman ako with Alden that pareho kaming in love sa characters namin, pareho kaming in love sa story nilang dalawa," Jasmine explained.

"And that makes the chemistry so much easier kasi ramdam mo 'yung kilig ng character mo, dinadaanan mo rin with the character.

"And, like Alden said, kami ngang dalawa, we've done projects before, though dalawa 'yun and short period lang 'yung aming working tandem, it was still enough to build a good foundation para maibigay namin more for this project and mas ma-develop pa 'yung chemistry na nasimulan na from before.

"I'm grateful kasi it's been so fun and it's been so easy to work with Alden and to have that and to share that chemistry with him."

Alden and Jasmine's on-screen chemistry can be proven by Tom Rodriguez and Jaclyn Jose, their co-stars in The World Between Us.

In between Alden and Jasmine's answers, Jaclyn butted in, "If I may say something, ang lakas nung chemistry nung dalawa na kung wala siguro silang kanyang kanyang karelasyon, tingin ko magiging sila."

Tom added, "Script reading pa lang, e, lahat napapahiyaw."

Also included in the cast of The World Between Us are Dina Bonnevie, Sid Lucero, Kelley Day, Yana Asistio, Don Boco, and Jericho Arceo.
