'90s star Maybelyn Dela Cruz proved that she's still got it even after several years of not doing acting assignments.

She is currently seen as the envious and insecure Cara in the high-rating GMA Afternoon Prime series Unica Hija, top billed by Kate Valdez.

Maybelyn's noticeable stellar performance in the show contributes to the positive reception that it receives.

In fact, a scene from the January 11 episode of Unica Hija, featuring her, logs a million views on the official Facebook page of GMA Drama.

In the said scene, Cara threatens Hope after she found out her husband Zach's obsession with the latter. Hope is the human clone of the deceased Bianca, the first love of Zach.

Hope was harmed in action after she stumbled off a cliff but Zach saved her from falling.

Raging with anger, Cara then accidentally pushed Zach off the cliff instead of Hope.

Maybelyn took a nine-year hiatus in acting to focus on her family. She entered show business in 1992, when she was just 10.

The last series she worked on is the 2013 GMA drama Anna KareNina, the adaptation of the 1996 TV series of the same title.

In November 2021, she had a guest appearance on the weekly public service drama anthology, Wish Ko Lang.

It was only in 2022 when she accepted a role anew for a full-length teleserye which is Unica Hija.

Maybelyn admitted she had reservations to do it again but thanks to her workmates who helped her get back to the grind.

During the virtual media conference of Unica Hija back in October, she said, "Ang nerbyos ko no'n baka mamaya sa tagal na 'di ako umarte, baka kahit papa'no mahirapan ako na makabalik ulit na makapag-adjust do'n sa mga gagawin kasi 'yung mga eksena ni Cara medyo mabibigat.

"Pero 'pag magaan kasi 'yung mga katrabaho mo, 'pag magaan 'yung feeling sa set, I'm very grateful dahil yung mga directors namin dito, they're giving us this freedom to explore our characters.

"We're able to discuss with them, how we would like to attack scene, and they are very receptive so 'yung na-discover ko lang na ay may boses ako dito sa show na 'to. May boses ako kung paano ko ma-i-improve 'yung character, nakaka-empower siya and, at the same time, na-realize ko, kaya ko rin pala ulit.

"And I'm grateful kasi tinulungan ako ng mga kasama ko sa eksena, ng mga direktor namin na pina-realize sa 'kin na I still have it somehow kahit matagal na makapagpahinga, meron pa rin."
