'Voltes V: Legacy' parody 'Komyuters Payb' honors Pinoy commuters on Day of Valor

By Jansen Ramos

The Holy Week has ended, and every worker, who had to report for Holiday duty, has his own horror story because of the transportation crisis going on in the country. And to make them feel less miserable, a little pick-me-upper has made its rounds on social media to help every tired commuter (or driver) inject some humor into their everyday struggles on the road.

A fan-made parody of Voltes V: Legacy has been going viral on social media, featuring the relatable situation of commuters as they return to Manila from their long Holy Week break.

The said video, with animation by Ewi De Jesus, was uploaded on Facebook by digital creator PGAG in time for the Day of Valor, April 9.

Titled "Komyuters Payb" (alternatively titled 'Kommyuter Payb") it shows a bus rider who sleeps the heavy traffic away along EDSA. While asleep, he starts dreaming of transforming into a warrior who fights a monster-like robot, along with four other colleagues who represent the Voltes V team. He then dreams of a train, bus, jeep, tricycle, and kalesa transforming and coming together to form a big robot, based on the super-electromagnetic robot, when a monster shows up and threatens to wreak havoc in the city. When the bus rider wakes up from his sleep, he feels nothing but disappointed knowing that he's still stuck in a traffic jam.

"Maligayang Araw ng Kagitingan sa lahat ng mandirigmang komyuters na tinitiis ang araw araw na traffic!

"Voltes V: Legacy let's volt in naaaaaa," the caption read.

At this writing, "Komyuters Payb" has 264,00 views on the Facebook page of PGAG where it was originally uploaded.
