'Voltes V: Legacy' brings new villains we love to hate
Kapuso viewers have named the new villains they love to hate as Voltes V: Legacy dug deeper into the story of Baron Hrothgar, as seen on the May 9 episode of the primetime series.
It tells the story of the planet Boazan 20 years ago when the horned race are enslaving the hornless Boazanians. This is where we meet Hrothgar, the minister of science of the empire. Because of his inventions and achievements, and his heart for both the horned and hornless, the emperor wants him to be his successor.
But the emperor's son, Zambojil, finds the emperor's decision as an insult and vows to destroy Hrothgar. During Hrothgar's coronation, Zambojil reveals his secret that he is hornless which makes him unworthy to become an emperor. Zambojil takes the throne and banishes Hrothgar to the slave colony. Zambojil tells Hrothgar that his mother, Fadsa, and his pregnant wife, Rosalia, are dead.
Hrothgar lived the life of a slave. This is where he meets the rebels and vows to help them end the cruelty to the hornless Boazanian race.
Hrothgar is played by Dennis Trillo, while Zambojil is played by Christian Vasquez.
Christian provoked the ire of Voltes V: Legacy viewers, as he posed as the arrogant and power-hungry Boazanian who looks down on others.
A Facebook user named Ishra Cainglet shared her thoughts on Christian's portrayal, saying "Yung 'di ko inasahang mabibigyang buhay ni Christian Vazquez c Emperor Zambojil. Kudos nakakasabay sya kay Dennis Trillo.
"Mas nakakainis yung zambojil sa live action. Para kang matatawa kc epal na kontrabida at nakakainis at the sametime. Infairness di korny ung pagkakaact nya. Magaling! Mas lalu cguro sa ending mas kakainisan natin to.
"Sa ending ng anime kc marami xang epal scenes dun."
Many believed Christian is perfect for the role of Zambojil because of his acting and screen presence.

In a tweet by Showbiz Banter, it said he could be next the "Padre Damaso" on Philippine TV that viewers despise. Padre Damaso, the egocentric Spanish friar, was played by Tirso Cruz III in the hit primetime series Maria Clara at Ibarra which is based on the novels of Jose Rizal, Noli Me Tangere and El Fiilibusterismo.
On the other hand, it said Martin Del Rosario has the potential to be the next iconic TV kontrabida like Juancho Trivino who played Padre Salvi in the historical portal fantasy series. Martin plays Zardoz, the prince of the Boazanian empire, who ordered to invade the Earth.
Zardoz is the central antagonist of the Voltes V team. He is also the son of Hrothgar and the half-brother of Steve, Big Bert, and Little Jon Armstrong.
Meanwhile, Ryan Eigenmann's character has also been introduced in Voltes V: Legacy's Tuesday episode. He plays Baron Zander, Zambojil's loyal supporter, and many think he will also deliver which excites fans.
Max Collins, Chanda Romero, Carlos Siguion-Reyna, Bibeth Orteza, Juan Rodrigo, Mike Lloren, Nico Antonio, and Brent Valdez were also introduced in the show's latest episode as Boazanians.
Voltes V: Legacy airs weeknights, 8:00 p.m., on GMA Telebabad, GTV, I Heart Movies, and Pinoy Hits, and on GMA online platforms via Kapuso Stream.
