Sparkle artists Mavy Legaspi and Kyline Alcantara consider their newest series, Zero Kilometers Away, as their biggest break so far, and said that it's one of their favorite projects they've done.
In their interview on the “Updated with Nelson Canlas” podcast, Kyline said that while their recent roles in an episode of Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko showed the fun and “bagets” side of them, Zero Kilometers Away shows the real side of their characters.
“Dito po sa Zero Kilometers Away ipapakita talaga 'yong reality ng bawat characters namin and the reality of online dating apps also. So it's more in a way, more controversial because mas sensitive 'yung topic,” Kyline said.
For the former Kambal, Karibal actress, “It's really of the big story na for sure na maraming makakarelate sa mga GenZ.”
Mavy, meanwhile, said of their new series, “Ang daming concepts sa Zero Kilometers Away na ang daming makakarelate, not only Gen Z but also millennials and Generation X din kasi we all go through that e. Most especially ano, online dating app that goes for all ages din 'di ba?”
Zero Kilometers Away tells the story of two childhood best friends, one of whom is looking for her potential partner, while the other has already found it in his best friend, but does not have the courage to admit anything.
Kyline's character, Gwen, uses an online dating app to look for her potential match not knowing that Mavy's character, Ardi, has feelings for her.
With their series centered on using popular dating apps and online dating services, have the two young actors tried it in real life? The son of Carmina Villarroel answered, “I just got lucky na one time I just met this ray of sunshine in GMA na after that and there was never a time na need kong mag online dating and mag try ng online dating kasi someone got my attention na right away e.”
Kyline, on the other hand, mentioned how she wanted personal interaction as the reason why she never tried it.
“I have a lot of friends din po also na natry mag online dating and successful kasi nagkakaroon po talaga sila ng jowawer,” she said with a smile.
Kyline added, “Like what I said kanina there's nothing wrong with it sadyang sa perspective ko lang po talaga hindi ko siya itatry kasi bakit ko pa po ita-try? 'Yon pala 'yon!”
Despite not trying online dating before, Kyline and Mavy were able to portray their roles effectively by placing themselves in the shoes of their friends who have experienced it.
