Aminado ang dating matinee idol na si Eddie Gutierrez na masayang-masaya siya dahil bahagi siya ng top-rating prime time Telebabad show na Zorro. Ang lolo ko sa father side [ay] Spanish, ang lolo ko sa mother side, Spanish-American—so I can speak Spanish fluently.” Pero natatawa din niyang inamin sa amin na nagsisisi siya na hindi niya naturuan ang kanyang mga anak na magsalita ng Spanish. Richard had to to undergo Spanish lessons in preparation for his role as Zorro.
