Golden Globe nominee Dolly de Leon's daughter says mom is 'still a winner'

By GMA Integrated News

Actress Dolly de Leon was the first-ever Filipino nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for "Triangle of Sadness."

She lost to Angela Bassett for "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," but Dolly's loved ones are still proud of her.

"It would have been great if she won, but still -- she's still a winner," said Luccia de Leon, Dolly's daughter.

Dolly's friend, Zena Bernardo, added, "The mere fact that [she was] nominated and knowing Dolly all those decades -- bago pinanganak si Luccia -- all those decades of struggle, 'yung journey nya -- 'yun 'yung beautiful kay Dolly. She'll always be a winner for us."

Dolly is expected to be back in the Philippines by the end of January.

When Dolly returns, Luccia said, "Gusto ko na mag-gather kami as a family, to just have dinner. Di naman 'yun ginawa except nung Christmas. All I want is for her to just keep going."

Despite her Golden Globe loss, Dolly was a fashion win in her look for the awards ceremony.

More than that, the actress was recently longlisted for the BAFTAs, Britain's equivalent of the Academy Awards. She also has upcoming international projects.
