Woman dreams of dead sister who leads her to hidden letter

April has been dreaming of her sister Charie since her death four years ago.

“Halos every day napapanaginipan ko siya (I dream about her almost every day),” April said on “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” on Sunday.

A few days before the birthday of Charie’s second child, April dreamt of her again, prompting her to look for her sister’s old photos.

When they were searching, April found the white blouse that Charie always wore in her dreams.

Upon checking the white blouse, Charie’s family members found jewelry, some cash, and a letter hidden inside the pocket.

When they opened the letter, they found out that Charie left it for her three children, for their education and for them to be able to start their own business.

Even after her passing, Charie was always remembered as a caring mother who tried to make ends meet after her husband had an accident. Her husband died this year.

Tim, Charie’s son, shared his astonishment over how their mom was able to save up despite how hard life was for them.

To get by, Charie even sold siomai on the streets.

“Ang init-init, lalabas siya. Hindi siya nahihiya, basta kumain kami. Parang masakit na nahihirapan ‘yung mama mo para lang kumain kayo (It’s so hot outside and yet she’d go out to work. She wasn’t embarrassed, as long as we get to eat. It’s painful to know that your mom is suffering so that you can eat),” Herica, Charie’s daughter, shared.

“Maghahanap siya ng tela sa tiangge tapos siya na magtatahi para makatipid siya. Nagtahi siya ng mga kurtina, mga damit naming magkakapatid (She’d find cloths in the market and sew so she can save up. She’d sew curtains, our clothes),“ Herica said.

By 2011, Charie stopped sewing, said Tim.

“Ang ginawa po niya nu'n sa sewing machine, tinago po niya sa bodega. Para kasing kayamanan ni Mama ko para sa kanya 'yun (She hid the sewing machine in the storage room. It was her prized possession),“ Tim said.

In 2015, Charie was diagnosed with myoma. The lump in her uterus was successfully removed. However, Charie suffered from aneurysm which caused her death a few days later.

Tim said since their mother died, they found themselves fighting frequently over bill payments.

However, things changed when the children found the hidden letter and the money from their mom.

Crying, they shared that it felt like, even beyond death, Charie thought of them.

At the back of the letter that they found, they saw another message. The children quickly went to Charie’s sewing machine and found cash and a passbook.

After finding the money, the children decided to save the whole amount in a bank and use it once they decide to start their own business.

“Ma, gusto ko lang sabihin na okay lang kami. ’Yung pangarap mo para sa amin, tutuparin namin ’yun. ’Yung hindi na maghirap ulit tulad nang pinagdaanan mo (Ma, I want to tell you that we’re okay. We’ll work hard to achieve the dreams you had for us.)," Tim said.

Sobrang miss na miss ko na siya (If she was in front of me right now, I would just hug her. I miss her so much).”

To thank Charie, her children wrote her letters and placed them in her sewing machine.

“Hindi lang ‘yung cash, ‘yung singsing ‘yung iniwan niya sa amin, pati ‘yung kung paano magmahal ‘yung magulang sa anak, kung paano niya isipin iyong sitwasyon ng anak hanggang sa huli (She didn’t just leave cash or a ring to us. She reminded us that a parent loves their children and would think of them until the very end),” her child added. – Kaela Malig/RC/KG, GMA News
