Chef helps out as aircon cleaner, hairstylist sells food amid COVID-19 lockdown

A chef has decided to help his barangay by cleaning air conditioners amid the enhanced community quarantine why a hairstylist has opted to become a food seller.

In a "24 Oras" report on Wednesday, Chef Dee Luna decided to help out others in cleaning their air conditioners especially since people have to remain indoors despite the summer heat.

Since it was expensive to have your air conditioner cleaned, Luna shared that he taught himself how to clean one just by watching videos on YouTube. He even purchased a power cleaner and a vacuum for wet and dry surfaces.

Aside from also being able to fix cars, Luna shared that he spent the time preparing food for other people.

"All these people are in lockdown so me and my friend came up with this idea that you can purchase food from us. You can purchase your breakfast, your lunch, your dinner and we'll deliver it to you on your doorstep," he said.

Meanwhile, hairstylist Jing Monis decided to learn new skills amid the enhanced community quarantine and learned to cook.

Aside from conducting an online hairstyling tutorial, Monis would also cook for the frontliners.

Monis explained that when his friends started asking him for food that he cooked so he decided to sell the dishes that he prepares.

"'Yung kikitain ko pwede kong pangluto at 'yun 'yung papakain ko sa frontliners natin," he shared.

He added, "Let's find things to do in our house na pwede natin pagkakitaan. Now is the time for survival. Kailangan natin maging mas positive and more creative and more connected to our loved ones para hindi tayo masyado maging malungkot."

He sells adobo, ginataang puso ng saging, and binagoongan.

President Rodrigo Duterte imposed an enhanced community quarantine in Luzon to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Although some provinces have lifted the enhanced community quarantine, Metro Manila and other high-risk areas will have to follow protocols for modified enhanced community quarantine from May 16 to 31. -- Kaela Malig/BAP, GMA News
