In support of frontliners: Old Swiss Inn to suspend dine-in operations for two weeks

Old Swiss Inn on Saturday said it was going to suspend its dine-in operations for two weeks in support of medical frontliners, who earlier asked for a breather, urging the government to place Metro Manila back in enhanced community quarantine.

"We’ll be closing our dine-in temporarily for 2 weeks starting Monday Aug. 3 in support of the medical community’s request," the restaurant wrote on its social media accounts.

"We hate to do it because we were seeing a return of our regulars but in light of the rising Covid cases and the welfare of our staff, 2 weeks is a small price to pay and will pass in a flash," it added.

Take-out and deliveries will continue, the restaurant said, as their "staff have barracks and will not go out."

The establishment will reopen for dine-in on August 27, right in time for their 74th anniversary.

Old Swiss Inn is among Metro Manila's most dependable restaurants. Apart from serving delicious fare — we especially love their fondue — it's maintained a 24/7 operation, even during Holy Week.

President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday said Metro Manila will continue to be under GCQ until August 15.

On Saturday, the medical community came together to ask the government for a breather as cases of COVID-19 continued to rise.
