Emman Nimedez shaves off head after 1st cycle of chemotherapy, dad also goes bald to show support

Emman Nimedez, who was recently diagnosed with leukemia, has finished the first round of his journey to recovery.

On his YouTube channel, Emman updated his subscribers on his situation, saying he is feeling better and has already finished the first cycle of his chemotherapy.

"Hinihintay pa nila sumipa nang todo 'yung epekto ng chemotherapy. So mga dalawa hanggang tatlong linggo pa tayo dito," Emman shared.

In the video, Emman shaved off his head inside the hospital bathroom with the help of his girlfriend, Peachy.

"Akala ko automatic na magiging kalbo ka once na na-chemo ka. 'Yun pala hindi. Unti-unti siyang nag-lalagas tapos ia-advise ka rin ng doctor mo na kalbuhin ka na," he said.

Emman said he had no regrets after going bald.

"Wala na akong naramdaman na pagsisisi dahil siguro expected ko na siya na magiging ganito," he said in the video.

At the latter part of the video, Emman's father Louie appeared and revealed that he also shaved off his long hair, which he grew for two years, to show his support for his son.

Meanwhile, Emman said so far he thinks his body responds well to chemotherapy.

"Hindi rin ako masyadong tinamaan ng side effects. Maganda ang nangyayari ngayon," Emman added.

The vlogger thought he would lose appetite and get thin after getting cancer, but the opposite happened to him.

"Maya't maya akong nagugutom at maya't maya akong naghahanap ng pagkain. Madaming mga dating akala ko na ganon yung mangyayari ngayon na nandito ako, hindi pala," he said.

The vlogger said the response of his body to chemo is better compared to other patients.

Last May 17, Emman revealed he was diagnosed with acute myloid lukemia in a vlog titled "Kailangan Niyo Na Rin Malaman."

Shortly after his revelation, fans, fellow vloggers and other personalities took to social media to show support. — Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
