Hayden Kho reveals he was molested as a child, suffered from depression

Celebrity doctor Hayden Kho has revealed that he was molested as a child and used to suffer from depression.

“When I was young, I was molested twice,” Hayden said in a Facebook video shared on Wednesday by Peter Tan-Chi, the founder of Christ’s Commission Fellowship (CCF).

Hayden said he felt betrayed by God and thought, “if you are a just God, then why didn’t you do anything?”

When Hayden graduated from medicine school and entered show biz, he felt like he created an image of himself that didn’t reflect who he really was.

“I started creating an image that people will fall in love with,” he said.

“I started creating this image but this image is not me so if people fall in love with that image, that’s not me.”

He added: “Deep inside when you’re alone in bed at night, you think, ‘what a miserable life I have.’ I have all these things but I’m alone and nobody knows me.”

For Hayden, not feeling loved, not being known, and not being seen were the “fabric” of depression and despair.

Everything changed for him, however, when he visited India for an outreach program.

He went around taking photos of children using his high-end camera that cost $20,000 or almost P1 million.

Hayden said that as he took photos of a poor girl while she was praying, he started to cry.

“What am I doing taking a picture of this poor child?” he said.

“If I sell this camera I can feed this whole school.”

After that trip, Hayden said his perspective on life changed. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
