COVID-19 survivor documents quarantine experience on TikTok

A COVID-19 survivor has documented on TikTok his isolation experience at a quarantine facility.

As reported by Dano Tingcungco on “24 Oras” Thursday, JC started vlogging on Aug. 10 to share awareness and cheer up his fellow COVID-19 patients.

On his first post, he narrated while taking a video of himself: “Dadalhin tayo ng Pasig LGU sa quarantine facility kung saan nandoon ’yung mga nag-positive sa COVID. I will stay there for 10 to 14 days, depende kung may symptoms ka pa raw.”

At the time, JC said he just had a headache and mild stomach pain.

He detailed his isolation experience on TikTok, from entering the facility and his children taking swab tests, to his daily meals and even his shower and laundry time.

He wasn’t the only star in the videos because he also featured his fellow patients and the frontliners at the facility.

“Iniisip ko na lang na it’s just a locked-in taping so to do that, kailangan kong magkaroon ng friends. I’m a vlogger so nag-decide ako mag video kasi I want my subscribers to know ano kalagayan ko,” he said.

He added that although he didn’t have many subscribers, he wanted them as well as his family to know his situation during quarantine.

According to JC, he and his fellow patients bonded well that they considered each other family and they celebrated whenever one of them “graduates” from isolation.

Now done with his 14-day quarantine, JC said he hoped to inspire other people who are struggling with the disease.

“Laughter is the best medicine. All you need to do is laugh. You don’t need to feel nervous when you have the virus. You’ll be with people when you’re there. You’re not alone,” he said. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
