Out of chicken? Kara David shows how to make sopas with hotdog

Hotdogs are a staple in many Filipino households, but did you know you can take this basic ingredient and turn it into a really tasty soup?

In this week's episode of "ECQusina," Kara David showed viewers how to make hotdog sopas with only a few ingredients.

During her live cooking demonstration, Kara said she thought of using hotdog as a substitute upon realizing that she ran out of chicken for sopas.

She ended up creating a whole new recipe where she will be hotdogs, ground meat and vegetables for added flavor.

First, you will need the following ingredients:

  • Hotdog (sliced)
  • Ground meat
  • Chicken broth
  • Milk
  • Onion

  • Garlic
  • Butter
  • Cabbage
  • Celery
  • Carrots
  • Leeks

Kara started by sauteing onions and garlic in a pan with some butter.

She then adds the ground meat, followed by the hotdogs, carrots, celery, and leeks. She pours in the broth with water, followed by the macaroni, and lets it boil.

Macaroni usually takes around eight minutes to cook. It's also normal for the soup to turn pinkish due to the hotdogs.

Once the pasta starts to cook, add the milk, followed by the cabbage. Let it boil for a little while longer, and your hotdog sopas is ready to serve.

"ECQusina" is an online cooking show where "Pinas Sarap" host Kara David teaches viewers how to make the most out of simple grocery items with limited ingredients.

Kara shares new recipes in live cooking demonstrations on Facebook every Thursday.
