Daang Dokyu to stream ‘Aswang’ for free starting Oct. 9

Daang Dokyu is set to stream Alyx Arumpac’s “Aswang” for free starting tomorrow, Oct. 9.

The film festival, which is set to stream over 45 films

this October, announced on Facebook, Thursday, that it will be streaming the critically acclaimed documentary from Oct. 9 to 15 under the “Nation: Perception is Real, Truth is Not” category.

“Aswang,” released in 2019, follows the lives of Filipinos caught in the administration’s war on drugs.

Aside from “Aswang,” other documentaries showing under the “Nation” category that can be viewed starting tomorrow are “Yanan” (2013), “May Istorya nga Tayo Patay Naman Tayo” (2001), “Mendiola Massacre” (1987), “Maid in Singapore” (2004), “The Delano Manongs: Forgotten heroes of the United Farm Workers Movement” (2014), “Queer Transnational Love in the Time of Social Media and Globalization” (2017), “Tupada ’92: The Philippines in the Year of the Elections” (1995);

“Sa Mata ng Balita: The Birth of Philippine TV, The News and Many Firsts, Unos at Puntos sa Bagong Milenyo” (2003), “A Rustling of Leaves: Inside the Philippine Revolution” (1988), and “Marcos: A Malignant Spirit” (1989).

In its five-week run, Daang Dokyu will feature one section per week: ecology, nation, taboo, localities, and future.

For its opening program, the film festival streamed martial law documentaries and later extended its run after their system was overwhelmed by viewers.

The film festival, which runs Oct. 2 to Nov. 5, was originally scheduled in March but had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
