Hailee Steinfeld confirmed to play Kate Bishop in new 'Hawkeye' series

It's official: Hailee Steinfeld is playing Kate Bishop in "Hawkeye."

As of Marvel's announcement on Friday, the "Pitch Perfect" star has been confirmed to star alongside Jeremy Renner in the upcoming Disney+ series.

The cast also includes Vera Farmiga ("The Conjuring"), Fra Free ("Les Miserables") and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez.

Based on the comics, Kate Bishop is expected join the “Young Avengers” and settle on Clint Barton a.k.a. Hawkeye as her mentor.

Renner earlier teased Kate Bishop's inclusion in "Hawkeye" on social media. The actor posted a director's-style chair labeled "Clint Barton" with a caption saying "Ms. Bishop... we need you."

Hailee Steinfeld is an Oscar-nominated actress and singer best known for role in the two “Pitch Perfect" sequels and the Peabody-award-winning series "Dickinson."

She has also starred in the Transformers spin-off “Bumblebee” and voiced the character of Gwen Stacy in “Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse.” —Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
