Rabiya Mateo explains side of story after bashers from Indonesia criticized her for leaked but edited video

Rabiya Mateo took to Instagram to explain her side of the story after bashers from Indonesia criticized her for a leaked video which was taken out of context.

In the video, the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 was interviewed by pageant vloggers for the "Critical Beauty Salon YouTube channel."

It was uploaded on December 12.

In one of the interview segments, Rabiya revealed it was her dream to become an actress and that she would want to play an antagonist.

So the vloggers challenged her to act out a scenario, where she wins Miss Universe but the first runner-up disagrees and steals her moment.

Rabiya gamely acted out the scene, saying a few lines and finishing strong with, "I'm a Filipina, so don't mess with me!"

Unfortunately, the video was cut and then it leaked, which is why it was taken out of context by pageant fans from Indonesia.

Rabiya decided to respond and air her side on Instagram Stories, upon learning of the violent reactions from the fans.

"This needs to stop. This video was cut, and some people are making issues out of this and trying to bully me on IG," she wrote.

“In the first part of the video, which was not included here, we talked about the fact that if I'm gonna accept any role in the future, I wanted to be an antagonist because I really wanna challenge myself," she added.

According to Rabiya, the host gave her a situation and that she issued a disclaimer before and after the video which were cut.

Rabiya said she has never done anything "to discredit or insult other candidates, but putting words in my mouth and creating problems out of nothing is just toxic and it has to stop."

The Filipina beauty queen said "No one should be bullied (even public figures) because that is unkind and pure evil."

“We can support our own candidates without destroying others. This needs to stop. I have nothing but love and admiration for Indonesians," she added.

Rabiya reminded her followers and bashers that “Pageants should be fun. We need to create a positive image in empowering women.

“I know bashers will always be there, but can we not normalize things that are evil and not right? Hatred is an acquired behavior. We can surely unlearn it and start doing the right thing," she ended her note.

Rabiya was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2020 last October.
