Ben&Ben shares advice on how to stay creative

By KAELA MALIG,GMA News

It’s no secret that our creative juices may be spent as we go through another year of quarantine.

Ben&Ben, who is releasing their 13-track sophomore album “Pebble House Vol. 1: Kuwaderno,” has revealed how they kept their creativity up during these trying times.

The secret, said vocalist Miguel Benjamin Guico during a press conference Friday, wasn’t really trying to be creative all the time.

“Siguro with the amount of pressure that we have to remain creative, I guess one thing we’d like to say, which is one of the songs in the album, hindi din kasalanan magpahinga,” Miguel said.

“Counterintuitive man siya pero kapag hinayaan natin sarili natin maramdaman muna ng pansamantala ’yung hirap, ’yung challenge, bago natin pilitin maka-get over it and then after, work our way slowly into getting back that groove, I think mas real way ’yun of dealing with the challenges,” he said.

Instead of just avoiding the challenges and forcing oneself to be creative, Miguel said one should face the heaviness of it.

“Hindi kasalanan magpahinga at damdamin ’yung challenge sa buhay,” he added.

Prior to the launch of their new album, which tackles numerous heavy themes such as power, burnout, and the feeling of drowning, Ben&Ben released one of its songs “Magpahinga” in May.

Their new album, which features collaborations with other artists including SB19, Chito Miranda, Juan Karlos, KZ Tandingan and Munimuni, can be streamed on digital music platforms. – RC, GMA News
