Here’s the reason why Ben&Ben decided to release their second album in August

It’s no coincidence that the hit OPM band Ben&Ben is releasing their sophomore album “Pebble House Vol. 1: Kuwaderno” in the month of August.

During a press conference on Friday, the nine-piece collective shared that they chose to release their new 13-track album, which contained all Filipino songs, in August to celebrate Buwan ng Wika.

“August kasi is Buwan ng Wika ... and all Tagalog songs so dinecide talaga namin na August,” bassist Agnes Reoma said.

Even the last track on the album, “Kayumanggi,” is a love song “to our identity as a Filipino” and to “the color of our skin,” the band said.

As to why they chose the date 29, the band jokingly said it was due to a miscalculation.

Vocalist Paolo Benjamin Guico said they were originally supposed to release their album on Aug. 8.

But percussionist Toni Muñoz and vocalist Miguel Benjamin Guico, who were in charge of the schedule, told them it wasn’t a feasible date.

“Siguro halfway, mukhang hindi kakayanin Aug. 8,” Paolo said. “Kaso nasabi nila ’yun na na-announce namin na August.”

[Halfway through, it wouldn’t be possible to release on Aug. 8. However, they told us that when we already announced that we’ll be releasing in August.]

He added, “kumbaga ’yung Aug. 29, ’yun ’yung touch move. August pa rin!”

[It’s like Aug. 29, that was touch move. It’s still August!]

The band is releasing their highly anticipated second album two years after they launched their debut “Limasawa Street.” It features collaborations with other Filipino artists such as SB19, Chito Miranda, and KZ Tandingan. – RC, GMA News
