Ben&Ben’s 2nd album ‘Pebble House, Vol. 1: Kuwaderno’ is inspired by their life under one roof

After living with each other for over year, Ben&Ben released their second album “Pebble House Vol. 1: Kuwaderno,” which was inspired by their time together under one roof.

In Cata Tibayan’s “24 Oras” report Thursday, vocalist Miguel Benjamin Guico said the new album was like their own journal that told of their experiences as a group.

“Para kang sumisilip do’n sa notebook namin as a band na lahat ng karanasan namin, reflections namin sa mga panahong ’to,” he said.

“Halo-halo, iba-iba pero lahat siya, kung ano yung nasa loob [namin]. Nakasulat don,” he added.

[It’s like you’re peeking through our notebook as a band where all our experiences, reflections during this time are. We have different views, but whatever’s inside us, it’s written there.]

According to the band, it wasn’t easy to be far from their families for a long time, but their efforts had paid off.

“It just really pushed me to fight and justify and do my best here [so I can say to myself that] being away from my family helped me and our band make something great,” said percussionist Andrew de Pano.

Last year, the OPM band revealed that all nine members had been living in one house so they could create music without compromising their safety amid the pandemic.

Pebble House Vol. 1: Kuwaderno” was released Aug. 29. It contains 13 tracks, including collaborations with Filipino artists such as Munimuni, Chito Miranda, and SB19.

Having completed their album amid the pandemic, Miguel encouraged everyone to continue creating.

“Kahit pa sa panahong walang nanonood, kayang-kaya pa rin lumikha so siguro kung meron tayong ipaglalaban na ’di maalis sa atin sa panahong ganito, kung kaya natin, gawa lang tayo nang gawa ng songs. Gawa lang tayo nang gawa ng mga sinusulat natin.”

[Even at a time when no one’s watching, we can still create. So maybe if we’re fighting for something during this time that we can’t shake it off, if we can, let’s continue creating songs. Let’s continue working on the things we’re writing about.]
