Kuya Kim praises ‘Dapat Alam Mo’ co-host Emil Sumangil: ‘He is a very gifted person’

Working with Emil Sumangil for the first time on television, Kuya Kim had only good words to share about his “Dapat Alam Mo” co-anchor.

In an online interview with the press, the new Kapuso said he was impressed with the seasoned GMA reporter right away during their first meeting.

Kuya Kim said while he and co-host Patricia Tumulak had to quickly adjust to coming up with spiels when needed during their rehearsals, Emil knew instantly what to do.

He said when Emil was not doing the news, he’s an introvert. “Pero ’pag nagbasa na ng balita at lumabas na ’yung TV persona niya, ang authority (ay) matindi,” he added.

[But when he’s reading the news and his TV persona comes out, he exudes authority.]

“Emil is a very gifted person,” said Kuya Kim.

“This early on, I can say na lalayo nang todo si Emil dahil sa kanyang gift na ’yon,” he added. “Kahit anong ilagay mo sa harap niya, talagang babasahin niya with credibility.”

[This early on, I can say that Emil will go very far with his gift. No matter the task in front of him, he’ll do it with credibility.]

Emil, meanwhile, said he realized how huge “Dapat Alam Mo” was going to be when they learned that Kuya Kim would be headlining it with him and Patricia.

“Dapat Alam Mo” is an upcoming news magazine show that will cover anything under the sun.

Emil, a senior reporter and police beat veteran, will tackle news and issues in the country and around the world and Patricia will take on lifestyle and entertainment features.

Kuya Kim, meanwhile, is in-charge of sharing trivia and other topics that will tap human interest. He is the Philippines’ walking encyclopedia, after all.
