MyKuya lowers rates amid MECQ

Homegrown super-service application MyKuya has reduced its rates for customers who want to hire partners for grocery deliveries and errands amid the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

In a statement on Wednesday, MyKuya said rates for its Pick-up and Drop Service have been reduced to P99 per hour, from roughly P150 per hour previously.

The service allows customers to get a partner to pick up one or more packages and deliver them to one or more locations via motorbike.

MyKuya also reduced the minimum number of hours for the MotoToday to four hours from six hours previously. The service is usually used by small businesses to assist with tasks requiring motorcycle delivery, pickups, and similar errands.

"We want to show people that we are one with them even in the face of an oncoming recession," said MyKuya country head Dennis Bunye.

"We’re taking concrete steps so that the MyKuya app is more accessible than ever," he added.

Metro Manila, Bulacan, and the Calabarzon areas were again placed under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) starting August 4 until August 18.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, Jr. earlier on Monday said that the extension is possible, but highly unlikely.

The economy has entered a recession after the economy shrank by 16.5% in the second quarter, marking the second consecutive month of contractions.

"We want people to know MyKuya is with them and willing to adjust to people’s needs even as a recession affects everybody. This is our way of doing just that, contributing to the overall bayanihan spirit gripping the country right now," said Bunye.
