Despite uncertainties amid the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles on Saturday claimed that employment prospects remained positive due to the resiliency of some businesses.

According to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases co-Chairman, several businesses were booming and had the potential of taking advantage of the situation.

"[S]ome businesses are resilient, remain extremely relevant, and are in fact booming despite the prevailing global health crisis," Nograles said in a statement.

Though prospects could be challenging for the service sector, Nograles said that logistics, medicine, health care, and online retail remained stable and could expect steady growth.

"May uncertainties lalo na sa ating mga kabataan, pero malaki at marami ring prospects. Expected na may ilang mababahala. Let's remain optimistic and think there are many opportunities out there," he said.

Nograles argued further that the government was taking steps to protect workers and businesses.

"We all need to be persistent and creative. Know what and where to look for employment-wise in these challenging times," Nograles said.

"No one is immune from the fallout brought by COVID-19. Everyone in both the public and private sector is affected, and our government is doing its best to provide social and economic safety nets," he added. — DVM, GMA News
