Pasig claims to have flattened curve in spread of COVID-19

The local government of Pasig has claimed that the COVID-19 curve had started to flatten in the city following its implementation of enhanced community quarantine regulations.

According to Mariz Umali's report on "24 Oras",  data from the Pasig City Health Office showed that the new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the city have fallen over the last week of April.

Despite the slight increase due to the expanded COVID-19 testing in the city, Dr. Stuart Santos, assistant city health officer of Pasig, said it was still a good sign.

“Una, medyo steep ‘yong increase ng mga kaso natin tapos noong inimplement natin ‘yong mga measure na ‘to, medyo nagkakaroon ng kaunting flattening po,” Santos said.

He added the expanded testing and intensified contact tracing helped improve their cases.

“‘Yong mga dating ‘di natin nade-detect, ngayon nade-detect na natin. Lahat ng pasyente na dapat naa-identify, naa-indentify ho. Lahat ng pasyente na dapat nare-refer galing sa isang community, nare-refer po. Lahat ng pasyente na dapat nasa quarantine faclity, nailalagay po,” Santos said.

“Ibig sabihin ho nito ‘di na ho sila makakapagkalat o makakapag-transmit ng virus,” he added.

With the improvement, the Pasig LGU decided to implement the “barangay coding” scheme in all establishments in the city starting on April 30 to limit residents from going out of their homes.

Under the scheme, residents who do not hold a permit to leave premises will not be allowed the go out.

As of April 30, Pasig has recorded a total of 325 cases of COVID-19, including 58 deaths and 83 recoveries.  -Ma. Angelica Garcia/NB, GMA News
