Under Executive Order No. 22 signed by Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, the entire district will be shut down from 5 a.m. of May 3 up to 5 a.m. of May 5, affecting Barangay 1 up to Barangay 146.

Meanwhile, rapid mass testing will be conducted in the different resting centers in Manila.

In an Unang Balita interview, Moreno said that all Tondo 1 residents' quarantine passes will be cancelled under the 48-hour hard lockdown.

This means residents will also be prohibited to buy essentials, including food. The city will meanwhile provide their medical needs.

"It also gives us the chance to pave the way sa ating mga health workers na magkaroon ng mass testing in the area, plus specific individuals, ma-test din," Moreno said.

As of Thursday night, the city government already distributed food packs and financial aid to more than 120,000 families. --Jamil Santos/KBK, GMA News
