Army reservist shoves mechanic for not wearing facemask inside own yard

An Army reservist shouted at a mechanic and shoved him to the ground inside the latter's own yard in Barangay Sta. Lucia, Dasmariñas, Cavite on Saturday.

The mechanic was not wearing a face mask amid the COVID-19 threat, something that the reservist sought to address.

According to Mai Bermudez's 24 Oras report on Monday, Junnel Pamilar, the army reservist, can be seen in a viral video entering a private compound after he saw Christopher De Nava not wearing a face mask.

Upon seeing De Nava, Pamilar pushed him until he fell to the ground.

“Kahit na, kahit na nasa loob ng ano, wala kayo sa bahay, hindi ‘yong walang face mask sa trabaho," Pamilar said in the video.

Before the incident, De Nava informed Pamilar calmly that he was working, but the latter did not listen to his explanation.

Pamilar left then came back with an enforcer and shouted and threatened to arrest De Nava for not wearing a face mask.

De Nava sustained injuries in his shoulders and back.

He said he was willing to file charges against the army reservist.

“Ang sa’kin lang po para hindi na siya makaano ng iba pang tao, mga civilian na hindi naman dapat ganoon ang pamamaraan niya ng paninita. Puwede naman po sanang sitahin o kausapin kami ng mahinahon,” De Nava said.

Meanwhile, De Nava's wife, Arlene, said the incident caused trauma to their family.

“‘Yong nagvi-video po umiiyak na ‘yon siyempre sa takot eh malay niyo may baril ‘yong reservist,” she said.

Pamilar later on apologized for his actions and said he was just doing his job.

“Humingi na ako ng pasensiya sa naging pagkakamali ko, ‘yong naging depensa ko, ‘yong galit ko, ganoong pagkakamali ko sa inyo. Humihingi po ako ng tawad, okay na po ‘yon. Tapos na po ‘yon, nagmamalasakit lang po para sa bayan ng Dasmariñas,” Pamilar said.
