Police officers on Saturday confiscated unidentified medicines, allegedly of Chinese origin, and other medical supplies during a raid of an illegal clinic in Parañaque City.

According to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), seized were 237 boxes and plastic bags of these medicines and medical supplies which were presumably being used to treat coronavirus disease 2019 cases.

Authorities were also attempting to identify the owners or operators of the alleged illegal clinic.

"COVID-19 is a deadly pathogen, therefore, patients must be attended and treated by professional doctors and nurses. Similar illegally operating clinics must be immediately reported to the authorities," NCRPO chief Police Major General Debold Sinas said.

"In line with this, we encourage the public to coordinate with the nearest police station for any information that they may give with an assurance that their identity will be highly confidential,” Sinas added.

The NCRPO revealed that a confidential informant had tipped them off on the clinic, which did not have a business permit. — DVM, GMA News
