Amid reports that several overseas Filipino workers tested positive for COVID-19 on their arrival in their home provinces, Malacañang on Sunday said additional safety measures at the provincial or local government unit level were necessary to ensure that one is “truly healthy and devoid of COVID-19.”

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque added that COVID-19 testing reflects the person’s health only at the time of testing.

“Between the time a test is conducted and the time of arrival of an OFW or anyone traveling, the possibility of infection remains,” said Roque.

The Palace spokesperson also reminded everyone to take precautionary measures advised by health authorities during travel.
