67-year-old woman asks Mayor Sara Duterte to be allowed to land in Davao

More than a hundred locally stranded individuals (LSIs) have camped out outside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 while waiting for their flights back to Davao City and General Santos City, which have been cancelled on orders of the concerned local government units.

According to Sandra Aguinaldo’s report on “24 Oras” on Monday, among the stranded passengers was 67-year-old Rose Wite who got stranded in Manila amid the lockdown while visiting a relative.

Wite said her flight to Davao City was cancelled, but she insisted to wait and camp out outside the airport.

Wite has asked Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte to allow her and other passengers bound for the city to return because they have been stuck in Manila for so long.

"'Yong asawa ko doon 'yong kasama niya is bata pa. 'Di siya makatayo, 'di makasalita," she said. "Mayor, sana pauwiin mo na kami. Marami po kami dito tiga Gen San po lahat."

Rohanna Katog, who was five months pregnant, said she just wanted to come home to Cotabato. She lost her job as a sales lady due to the lockdown.

“Kahit wala ng ayuda, makauwi lang kami. ‘Di naman namin hinihingi pambili namin ng ticket eh,” Katog said.

According to the report, flights to Davao and General Santos have resumed after Duterte and General Santos City Mayor Ronnel Rivera announced they  are willing to accept all LSIs from Manila. —Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
