LTFRB completes opening of 31 rationalized city bus routes in Metro Manila

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Wednesday opened Route 10 or the Cubao-Doroteo Jose route, completing the 31 rationalized city bus routes in Metro Manila.

“Route 10 (Cubao-Doroteo Jose) bukas na upang kumpletuhin ang 31 rationalized city bus routes sa Metro Manila simula ngayon, ika-24 ng Hunyo, 2020,” the LTFRB said.

This is part of the gradual and calibrated resumption of public transport routes in Metro Manila amid the COVID-19 pandemic as ordered by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).

Here are the  routes that have been opened since the first week of June:

1. Portion of Route E (EDSA Carousel) *to augment MRT-3/partial operational

2. Route 1 (Monumento-Balagtas)

3. Route 2 (Monumento - PITX)

4.  Route 3 (Monumento-Valenzuela Gateway Complex)

5. Route 4 (North EDSA-Fairview)

6. Route 5 (Quezon Avenue-Angat)

7. Route 6 (Quezon Ave.-EDSA Taft Ave.)

8. Route 7 (Quezon Avenue-Montalban)

9. Route 8 (Cubao-Montalban)

10 Route 9 (Cubao-Antipolo) *to augment LRT-2

11. Route 11 (Gilmore-Taytay)

12. Route 12 (Kalentong-Pasig)

13. Route 13 (Buendia-BGC)

14. Route 14 (Ayala-Alabang)

Earlier, the LTFRB announced the government will resume the operation of public transport in two phases.

Under Phase 1 (June 1 to 21), only trains, augmentation buses, taxis, transport network vehicle services, shuttle services, point-to-point buses, and bicycles were allowed on a limited capacity.

The operation of tricycles under Phase 1 is subject to the approval of local government units.

Under Phase 2 (June 22 to 30), public utility buses, modern public utility vehicles or jeepneys, and UV Express will be allowed to operate on a limited capacity.

The LTFRB reminded operators to observe health protocols as they resume operation to avoid the spread of COVID-19 in compliance to its Memorandum Circular 2020-18. —LBG, GMA News
